The Johns Hopkins University Pre-Health Academy strives to:
- Empower JHU students and alums with pre-health curriculum that helps them to better understand the application process and professional school expectations of their health professions field of interest, which, in turn, helps them to navigate their individualized path to success.
- Cultivate a collaborative and supportive pre-health community at Hopkins that is welcoming, team-focused, introspective, and encourage students to take ownership of this own health professions journey.
What Do We Do?
- We work independently or in partnership with other campus offices to create curriculum and resources specifically designed to educate and empower pre-health students across all the health care fields. Content may be directly relevant for the pre-health application process or development of successful applicant qualities, but it may also include areas of common concern for pre-health students outside the application process or support overall student success on the pre-health path.
What Do We NOT Do?
- We do not offer individual advising (pre-health or otherwise) to JHU students. Please speak with the Pre-Professional Advising Office (https://studentaffairs.jhu.edu/preprofadvising/) (for undergraduate students) or your home department (for certificate or graduate students) to understand the individual advising services available to you.
- We do not offer committee letters or a university letter of evaluation for students. Students interested in what letter opportunities are available to them should speak with the Pre-Professional Advising Office (https://studentaffairs.jhu.edu/preprofadvising/) (for undergraduate students) or your home department (for certificate or graduate students).
- We do not create pre-health subject matter courses classically housed in the academic departments (for example, the Biology, Chemistry, or Physics Departments) such as courses like biology I, for example, and the other typical pre-health required courses. If you have questions about those courses or general science coursework or curriculum at Hopkins, please refer to those departments directly or your individual advisor.
